Transferring to FCV
It is important to us that the needs of the children and young people come first.
FCV will work closely with you, your current agency and the child’s local authority social worker to ensure that there is minimal disruption to their lives.
If you make the decision to transfer to FCV you will have to:-
• Notify you current agency – by giving written notice of your intention to transfer.
• Inform the child/young person’s local authority social worker
All Fostering Agencies subscribe to the Fostering Network's Transfer Protocol which states:
If you are already approved as a foster carer with another agency but are looking for a change, we would be delighted to discuss transferring to FCV with you, so please get in touch.
Do you feel your current agency are making the most of your experience and skills?
If not, why not consider joining us on our journey to create an exciting new foster care agency here in North Wales?
Whatever your reason for talking to us about a change, if you decide to go ahead, remember you do have the right to transfer agencies.
At FCV we know that you will be anxious about changing, you may be daunted by having to go through the assessment process again, or concerned about how it might affect the children or young people you may already have in your care.
However, you can be reassured that all the staff at FCV are very experienced and will be there to support you through the process from start to finish.
You may not have a child or young person placed with you when you decide to transfer in this case you will need to:
• Notify you current agency – by giving 28 days' written notice of your intention to transfer.
• Complete an application to foster with us.
Once you have made the decision to transfer to us, we will then make contact with your existing agency for a reference. When this has been received we can start the process of your transfer.
You will then be allocated a social worker who will complete your new Form F. This person will be there to support you throughout the assessment process.
You will also be invited to skills to foster training, if you’re applying as a couple then you will both need to attend. As an experienced carer(s) your input and attendance at this training will be valued by the trainer and those new to fostering.
If you would like to discuss transferring to FCV, then please get in touch with a member of our team, who would be delighted to discuss in confidence any questions you may have.
You can be reassured we WILL NOT contact your existing agency until you have made a formal application with us.
FCV has very competitive allowances, and in some cases you will be financially better off moving on to our allowances and benefits.
However, if you are currently receiving a higher level of allowances or enhanced payments from your current agency, we will honour those payment levels.
Our promise to you is that you will not be financially worse off transferring to FCV.
Any transfer to FCV will need to be discussed on an individual basis. We would envisage any transfer process taking 12-16 weeks.
FCV will work with your existing agency with the aim of making the process as efficient and seamless as possible whilst ensuring that the assessment produced is of the highest quality and best reflects your experience as carers.
"The transfer of carers protocol is based on the assumption that carers have the right to freedom of movement between fostering services and the principle that, in all circumstances, the welfare of any child must be paramount"

"To move agency was a huge decision for us. After working for a different agency for over 10 years we felt it was the right decision to move.
The previous agency had changed so much over the years and we didn't like the direction it was going in. We wanted to move to a small, local, friendly agency and at FCV we have found what we were looking for.
We are so pleased with FCV and would definitely recommend the agency to other carers. The Form F was straight forward and we had a fantastic Form F Assessor."
